Shanghi

  • The Players:
3-8, More than eight players gets pretty harry.
  • The Cards:
2 Decks including jokers (jokers are wild)add an additional deck for each additional pair of people playing.
  • The Deal Deal:
10 cards each, then turn one up. If it is a joker, bury it and turn another (House Option).
  • The Play:
THREES - three of a kind: Ace, 2-10, Jack, Queen, King, any suit.
RUNS - 4-card Straight-flush, 4 (or more) cards in a row in the same suit. Ace can play High or low but not both (King, Ace, 2,3 is not allowed)
Multiple THREES must be of a different kind. Multiple RUNS must be a different suit.
You must satisfy the goal for the hand to go down. Once down you can play on your downed cards or on anyone elses that are also down.
    Buying:
In the middle of some one else's turn, after they have drawn from the new card pile (NOT the discard pile) and before they discard you can buy the discarded card taking it and two extra cards. Only two buys per person per hand. If the person picks up the dicard, it is not possible to buy during their turn. It is legal for a person to buy back the card they just threw away, but they have the lowest priority to get it back.
  • The WIN (for the hand)
You have to play out and you cannot discard your final card. To end a hand, you must have a playable (or multiple playable) cards in your hand and draw a playable (or one that makes all the cards in your hand playable) to be able to finish the hand. Remember that you can play on anyone's cards who is down on the table, but, you have to be down on the table to do so.
House Option: Final hand must go all the way out, no going down early (this is brutal :)
  • Scoring
Any cards in your hand count against you, cards down on the table don't count at all.
2-8 worth 5 pts each card
9-K worth 10 pts each card
